suyen E. Pell, MANAGING PARTNER

Suyen Pell co-founded Anahau and is an experienced executive with over 25 years in the energy industry. She serves as President, leading Anahau’s business development and operational infrastructure. Suyen established profitable transactions in natural gas derivative contracts, pipeline transportation, gas storage, and services across multiple commodities. She also identified and capitalized on financial credit structures and collaborated on strategic partnership agreements. Ms. Pell has been invited numerous times by the CPUC and Investment Owned Utilities (IOU) to speak at open panels and advise on Women-owned Business success in the energy sector. Before forming Anahau, Ms. Pell was the Chief Trading Officer of Macquarie Cook Energy, LLC (now Macquarie Energy), where under her direction, she played a crucial role in successfully transforming and building all regional trading desks to consistently produce over ten consecutive profitable years with more than $3 billion in annual revenue. Ms. Pell holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California Los Angeles and post-graduate studies in Executive Management & Business Development at UCLA Anderson School of Management and Northwestern Kellogg School of Management.

Alison spangenberg, MANAGING director

Alison Spangenberg (Ali) joined Anahau in 2014 and is currently serving as Managing Director, where she heads the daily operations, existing and new client account services, and daily trading portfolio management. She is also the relationship manager, advising and facilitating the quality control and execution of daily physical natural gas transactions, RFP, and long-term proposals. She has over ten years of experience in conventional and renewable natural gas trading and marketing, with a core focus on strategic analysis services and operational readiness, transportation, storage, and scheduling. Ali specializes in Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) management, long-haul transportation, western state LDC management, and inter-/intrastate pipeline systems. Ms. Spangenberg holds a bachelor’s degree in International Development from the University of California Los Angeles and is fluent in Spanish.

Makayla McGivern, Natural Gas transportation and Logistics

Makayla McGivern joined Anahau in 2021 and oversees the daily natural gas scheduling, transportation management, and flow performance analysis. She is responsible for auditing daily imbalance, cash trading, resolving discrepancies, and recording/tracking assurance of overall daily physical flow performance for Anahau’s accounts and services. With over five years in the gas industry, she has worn many hats, including supporting the management of Midstream Construction projects and diverse functions in Marketing and Transportation for multiple natural gas pipelines and LDC. Ms. McGivern earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Colorado Boulder. 

theresa e. gendron, managing partner

Theresa Gendron co-founded Anahau and brings 25 years of extensive transactional experience in natural gas and power physical and financial structured products. She heads the trading strategy and market activity portfolio for Anahau’s service account, focusing on asset/supply management. She has an energy-specific skill set in optimizing and managing Renewable Natural Gas (RNG/Landfill Gas), fuel supply, transportation, and storage assets across the energy value chain. Before Anahau, Theresa was a Regional Director of Natural Gas Trading with Macquarie Cook Energy (now Macquarie Energy). Ms. Gendron earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Finance from California State University, Long Beach.

angela jones, HEAD of regulatory compliance and documentation

Angela Jones (AJ) leads the compliance and documentation for Anahau . Angela has over 25 years of experience in legal risk management, credit negotiations, energy contracting (industry standard and custom/bespoke contracts), energy regulatory compliance (CPUC, FERC, CEC), and other energy-related commercial transactional support. Before Anahau, Ms. Jones was a Senior Vice President/Associate Director of the Macquarie Bank Group. Primary responsibilities included Regulatory relationship management for the U.S. and Canadian regulators, Transaction structure compliance for Fixed Income and Commodities trading, Mergers and acquisitions risk management, and Energy markets regulatory reporting. Ms Jones holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business.
